Abstract: This research aims to analyse an extended body of literature on gastronomy tourism experiences (GTEs) and propose a future research agenda. To achieve this purpose, a literature review was conducted. The review results imply that research in this field had a peak moment before COVID-19, specifically in 2018 and 2019, in North America and Asia. During this period, scholars predominantly applied quantitative methods, focusing on keywords such as service quality, satisfaction, memory, and behavioral intentions to study GTEs. This review suggests new directions for future research in the field of GTE. In particular, researchers should focus on exploring adaptive strategies to external shocks, value for money, the impact of AI on multisensory experiences, and enhancing authenticity through collaboration with local communities.
