Terms and procedure of membership

Members of the Association can be all individuals and legal entities, other associations and companies that with their engagement in the society proved to have a good reputation in the public and against who/which in the time of receipt there is no any conducted investigation.

Membership in the Association can accomplish domestic and foreign individuals and legal entities by invitation only, based on the Law and the Statute. The call for membership in now open.

Besides founders, individuals who were present at the founding Assembly meeting of the Association, members are:

Associate member – by invitation

Associate member – by invitation, following a call for membership from the Steering Committee.

Proposal for a membership, besides founders, can be made by at least two active members. The decision on admission to associate membership is made by the Steering Committee by consensus.

active members

Associate members who in that capacity have spent at least one year from the date of admission to associate membership and who have completed all the obligations from the previous status can become active members.

The decision on admission to active membership is made by the Steering Committee of the Association by consensus.

honorary members

The Steering Committee may in exceptional cases receive in honorary membership a person who is with its status in the society and exceptional achievements in scientific, cultural and work in other areas of importance, contributed to the overall development of the nation, international affairs and society in general.

Membership of this type requires a consensus of all members of the Steering Committee.

On the membership decides Steering Committee and immediately notifies the applicant.

Membership in the Association may be terminated due to long inactivity of a member, non-compliance with the provisions of Statute or damage to the reputation of the Association.

At the Steering Committee meeting held on October 17, 2025 a new Membership Rulebook and Benefits is adopted.

General Rights

Members of the UdEkoM Balkans have the right to:

Participate in the work of the Association and contribute to the realization of its objectives and tasks;
Elect and be elected to the institutions of the Association, in accordance with the Statute;
Submit proposals, initiatives, and projects related to the mission of the Association;
Be timely and fully informed about the work, activities, and decisions of the Association;
Take part in expert commissions, working bodies, and committees in line with the Statute;
Publish their scientific and professional works in the Association’s publications under preferential conditions;
Engage in international research networks and project partnerships initiated by the Association;
Be eligible for annual awards and professional recognition granted by the Association;
Participate in mentorship, training, and professional-development programs coordinated by the Association;
Exercise all other rights arising from the Law, the Statute, and other acts of the Association.

Rights and Membership Amount According to the Membership Category

Basic Associate Member
– Right to participate in all Association activities and events at publicly announced member participation fees.
– Access to newsletters, announcements, and public calls.
– Eligible to submit abstracts and papers for Association conferences.
– Entitled to receive up to two (2) iThenticate similarity reports per month for ongoing research or publication purposes.*
– Entitled to receive an official confirmation of membership upon request.

Regular Associate Member
– All rights of Basic Members.
– Discounted participation fees for conferences, symposia, workshops, etc., organized by the Association.
– Priority in inclusion in joint research projects, and collaboration programs.

Premium (Full) Associate Member
– All rights of Regular Members.
– Free participation in all scientific and professional conferences, meetings, symposiums, forums, seminars, workshops, and other events organized by UdEkoM Balkans.
– Free publication of papers, monographs, books, and other works in the Association’s editions.
– Priority access to editorial committees, leadership positions, strategic partnerships, and international delegations on behalf of the Association.
– Individual recognition and acknowledgment on the Association’s website and official materials as a Premium Member.
– Eligible for annual awards and professional recognition granted by the Association.
– Participation in mentorship, training, and professional-development programs coordinated by the Association.

*Basic associate members may request up to two (2) iThenticate similarity checks per calendar month for their own academic or professional manuscripts, including co-authored works. The service is provided upon written email request to the UdEkoM Balkans Secretariat and is intended exclusively for the member’s ongoing research or publication activities.

An Associate Member (Basic, Regular, or Premium) may become an Active Member after having held the status of Associate Member for at least one (1) year from the date of admission and upon fulfilling all obligations arising from the previous membership status.

The decision on admission to Active Membership shall be made by the Steering Committee of the Association by consensus.

In special cases, the Steering Committee may decide to promote an Associate Member to Active Member status earlier than usual if it believes that the member’s contribution would significantly support the goals and activities of the Association.

An Active Member gains the right to vote and to participate in the Assembly only after being in active membership for at least one year and following a decision of the Steering Committee.

The Steering Committee may also grant Honorary Membership to a person who has made an exceptional contribution to society - through achievements in science, culture, or other areas of public importance - and whose work has helped advance the nation, international cooperation, or the broader community. Becoming an Honorary Member requires the unanimous agreement of all Steering Committee members.

Membership Duration and Validity

Membership is valid for a continuous period of 365 days from the date of payment, and may be renewed annually.
All membership benefits and rights apply throughout this 365-day period.
Members who upgrade to a higher membership category during their active period shall have the new category benefits applied immediately after payment.

Implementation of the New Membership Policy

The new membership structure and fees apply to all new members as of October 17, 2025.
For existing members, the new fees and corresponding benefits shall take effect upon the expiration of their current membership period.

All members are expected to uphold the values, mission, and ethical standards of UdEkoM Balkans and to contribute actively to the advancement of scientific collaboration and knowledge exchange within the Association.

The procedure of joining the UdEkoM Balkans:

Filling in the "Application";
Membership approval by the Steering Committee of the Association - under the Article 6, paragraph 1, of the Statute of the Association, the Steering Committee shall decide on the membership of the submitted applications and applicants will be informed about it via e-mail;
Payment of the membership fee - annually.
