Abstract: One of the most important measures in creating a more competitive position in the tourism
market is the adoption of the appropriate planning documents in the field of tourism and tourism development,
in particular the adoption of a clear and responsible Strategy of tourism development, as well
as defining the key strategic goals and directions of tourism development. The current Strategy lays
particular emphasis on the key modern tourism trends: in the promotion and booking methods, in the
field of accommodation, and with regard to contemporary motives for travel in the global tourism market.
Besides the relevant issues regarding tourism, special emphasis is placed on the strategic approach
to the key modern tourism trends in the Republic of Serbia.
