Abstract: The scope of this research paper is to analyze the tourism sector and the tourism competitiveness
in the frame of European Union (EU-28). The methodology of the paper is classic based on
comparative analysis between EU-28 countries, using the analysis, the comparisons and the synthesis
of available information. The main source of the data used is Eurostat database. The methodology of
the paper is based on the data collected from numerous official, and semi-official published reports,
research journals, newspaper reports, research articles, websites and works of the individual scholars:
The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017 from World Economic Forum, Travel & Tourism
Economic Impact 2018 from World Travel & Tourism Council. Finally, the paper concludes and aims
recommendation and solution for tourism management in order to increase the European tourism efficiency
and competitiveness facing worldwide major challenges regarding resources scarcity, climate
change and world security.
