Abstract: The paper presents an analysis of quantitative indicators of modern tourism development in
the Republic of Serbia. The subject of analysis is the ratio of the number of tourist arrivals and overnight
stays in general, and the number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays by type of tourist sites for
the period 2017-2018. The methods applied are the methods of theoretical content analysis, concretization,
specialization and the normative method, then statistical, analytical-deductive methods and the
method of quantitative data analysis. The research is based on statistical data of Statistical Office of
the Republic of Serbia. Cumulative data of the arrivals and overnight stays indicate a progressive tendency
in tourism development in Serbia. The number of arrivals and overnight stays in Serbia is related
mostly to the main administrative centres. By comparing the data for both years, it is noticeable that the
number of arrivals, as well as overnight stays in Serbia, was in 2018 higher than the number of arrivals
and overnight stays in 2017, both in the total amount and in the individual monthly data.

Keywords: Tourism, Tourist Arrivals, Overnight Stays, Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.
